Goodman’s Haberdashery and Clothing for Men/Boys was established in 1923 and closed in 1990. 1st Street, as far as the eye could see, was the commercial center of Hoboken, and was serviced by a trolley car.

The imposing and faded advertisement for TIP TOP TAILORS (c.1914), on RIchmond St. near John St. in Toronto (Ontario). Bell Media Radio presently resides at this location. Tip Top Tailors was a Canadian mens-wear clothing retailer founded in Toronto in 1909 by David Dunkleman.

A rare faded type find on Richmond St. near John St. in Toronto (Ontario). The GELBER BROS. LIMITED sign is on a 1920s warehouse building that housed the Gelber Brothers Wholesale Woollens & Yard Goods.

We like when we find faded type and vestiges from a bygone era in Toronto. Here’s some signage for the Gooderham & Worts Ltd. Distillery, in the historic Distillery District.
Found faded gold type on glass, ‘Leather Coats Made to Measure’. This is an old sign that Mercury Espresso Bar in Leslieville (Toronto, Ontario) kept when they moved in.
Another faded type sign of a Tea Company on Duane St. at Greenwich St. (Tribeca, NY).
Dayton Corsa & Co. Teas and Coffees, faded type at Hubert and Greenwich Streets in Tribeca (NY). Dayton Corsa & Co. imported tea and coffee. They were located here at 17 Hubert St. from 1915 until approx. 1933/34. They were the successor to Keys, Corsa & Holley, tea importers at 17 Hubert St. (New York City) founded around 1901.

Great blue and white fading type, BALDWIN BELTING at Spring and Hudson in the West Village (NY).
Baldwin Belting & Leather Co. dates from 1925, and was originally located at 69 Warren St. in New York City. The name changed to Baldwin Belting, Inc. in 1944. They moved into this building at 286-300 Spring St. in 1965, and remained here until going out of business in 1989.
